Brian Simms
Hi, I am Brian Simms! I am married to my wife, Beth, and have one son, Grady. My family has lived in the Charleston area since 1707, as I am now the 10th generation. Working in the hotel industry for ten years in a number of different capacities, defined my love for working with people.
On a weekend getaway in 2009, my wife, Beth, helped me to understand my desire to discontinue in hotels and seek another career. “What are your passions,” she said. My answer was “people and history” and my dream job as a tour guide came to life. Because of its history and beauty, I am amazed everyday by new sights and stories I never knew and that is why I love my job, if it can be called as such. I get to take a walk, literally, into the past every day, sharing my knowledge about the city’s history with people who may not otherwise know the significance of the buildings they see and streets they walk on during their visit.
When I am not working, I am enjoying all the city has to offer as well! Dining, spending time with my family and traveling are at the top of my list. It is my absolute pleasure to guide you through Charleston and for you to discover what makes this city so unique and a must see in America!
